SAMUEL Eto'o scored the winner for Cameroon as they beat Liberia 2-1 yesterday and stay top of Group 5 in an African Nations Cup Qualifier.

Stephen Mbia gave Cameroon the lead in the 12th minute by beating Liberia goalkeeper Sunday Sieh with a right-foot shot.

Eto'o, the three-time African Player of the Year, made it 2-0 for the Indomitable Lions with a left-foot shot in the 52nd minute, before Stephen Mannoh pulled a goal back in the 71st.

Cameroon have 12 points, while Liberia have three.

Liberia President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf attended the match, with his country's team in a rebuilding stage following 14 years of war that have left institutions and infrastructure in ruins.
