Europe’s football governing body (UEFA) has invited the President of the Liberia Football Association Musa Hassan Bility to witness the final of this year’s European Champions League.
UEFA’s invitation to the LFA President was contained in a communication sent to him by its General Secretary Theodore Theodoridis on May 12, 2016.
This year’s European Champions League final takes place in Milan, Italy between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid on May 28, 2016 at the San Siro Stadium.
The General Secretary of UEFA Theodoridis and LFA Boss Bility hope to use the champions’ league final to discuss football cooperation between UEFA and Liberia.
According to a release from the LFA, two senior world football actors will interact on the margins of the champions’ league final and discuss possible UEFA intervention in Liberia‘s football development program.
“UFEA has invited us and we are going to see the final and reengage UEFA is a discussion about future collaboration,” Bility said.
He said the relationship between Liberia and UEFA is excellent and hopes to tap on any opportunity from the group.
The LFA President disclosed that he and former LFA President Edwin Snowe have also been invited to witness the opening ceremony of the Euro 2016, the European Nations Cup by FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
A plan visit by a two-man UEFA delegation was called off at the last minute due to the terror attack at the Brussels Airport in March.
UEFA General Secretary Theodore Theodoridis and UEFA Integrity Officer for Legal Affairs/Disciplinary Services Urs Kluser who would have made up the two member delegation in a visit that was to ran from March 22-23, 2016.
On the relationship with FIFA, the LFA President described it as excellent as ever staing both institutional and personal relationships are well on track.
